Sand Painting Heidi Scheirer McGrew

What can you do with sand?  That’s the challenge that I set myself when I work with sands from all over the world,   Natural sands occur in almost every color and in a variety of textures from fine grained powdery sand to very coarse almost gravelly sand.  The only processing that I do to the sand is to wash it, dry it and sieve it into various size grains.  I hope you will enjoy my work!

Landscapes are an obvious choice when using sand as an artistic medium.

Sand is particularly fun to use when portraying fur and feathers.
